Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 22, 2026
Scope
The operator of competitiveness.org (referred to here as “we”) publishes this policy to explain what happens to personal information in connection with the Competitiveness blog. Optional features are covered only to the extent they are turned on. Questions about privacy can go to [email protected].
Visit records
When a browser loads a page, our hosting systems commonly log the IP address, the type of device and browser, the page requested, the referring address and a timestamp. We use this material for reliability, security and general measurement of readership. We do not use it to follow named individuals around the web.
Cookies, analytics and advertising
Cookies, local storage and pixels may be used on the site. Typical purposes are storing preferences, counting visits, supporting advertising where it is enabled and attributing visits that arrive through affiliate links. Analytics and advertising providers can place identifiers of their own on your device.
Browser controls let you refuse or erase cookies, though some features may stop working and not all tracking depends on cookies. We honour opt-out preference signals such as Global Privacy Control where the law obliges us to. The older Do Not Track setting has no uniform legal standing.
Email and forms
An email or form submission gives us whatever you decide to include, usually your name, email address and message. We use it to answer you, to assess corrections and to retain a short history of the exchange. Avoid sending confidential business information, account numbers or sensitive personal details.
Newsletter
Where a newsletter is available, your email address is used to deliver it and to honour your choices. The sending service may log delivery and opening. You can unsubscribe at any time from the link in each message, and a small suppression record is kept so the request is respected.
Service providers and embeds
Hosting, security, email, analytics and advertising services act for us or in their own right under their own notices. Embedded charts, videos or social posts may send information to their provider when a page loads. A disclosure to advertising partners can fall within the legal meaning of sharing or targeted advertising in some regions. External sites we link to are governed by their own policies.
We may also disclose information where required by law, to protect safety or the integrity of the site, or as part of a transfer of the publication to a new operator.
Retention and security
Information is retained for as long as its purpose, our legal obligations or the resolution of a dispute require, and is then deleted or de-identified. We apply reasonable safeguards, yet no transmission over the internet is perfectly secure.
Transfers abroad
Providers may handle data in a country different from yours. Where legally required, appropriate safeguards govern such transfers.
Rights and requests
Depending on your location, you may request access to your information, correction, deletion, limits on processing or an opt-out from sharing for advertising. Send the request to [email protected]. We may ask for proportionate proof of identity, and exercising a right will not lead to worse treatment.
Younger readers
This publication is aimed at adults and older students. It does not knowingly gather information from children under 13, and we will delete anything we learn was provided by one.
Updates
Revisions will be posted on this page with a new effective date, and with further notice where the law calls for it.
